Regular dental checkups are essential to maintain a pristine oral health condition. It will also give your dentist a chance to know any dental issues before the symptoms become severe. However, sometimes you may experience a sheer pain in your tooth that won’t go away even after a few days. If this is the case, it’s time to contact a dentist in Vista, CA.

Dental emergencies are undoubtedly a bigger problem. Oral infections will not only affect your overall dental hygiene but also can damage your health condition if left untreated for a long time. Apart from pain, swelling, and bleeding, here are the signs you need to contact a dentist.

    • The Gums are Inflamed: Bleeding is the most common sign of gum disease. If the gums are bleeding or swollen and it’s not healing for a long time, you need to book an appointment with your dentist. Never assume that just because you brush and floss your teeth daily, you’re invincible to any type of gum disease. Treating the initial phase of gum disease, also known as gingivitis, will help you avoid more complicated and advanced phases of gum disease. If left untreated, the advanced stage of periodontitis will affect your overall teeth and health condition.
    • Bad Taste in Mouth: If you’re experiencing a persistent bad taste in your mouth that is not from something you drank or ate, it’s time to visit your dentist for a routine dental checkup. A persistent foul taste in your mouth would indicate that the tooth is infected or suffering from other types of gum disease issues, such as wisdom teeth erupting. Infections will emit toxins, which will lead to a bad taste in your mouth. A metallic taste is common in women due to hormonal changes. If you’re experiencing a foul taste that is not going away even after a long time, pay close attention to the other signs and contact your dentist immediately.
    • Tooth Discoloration: Our teeth will become stained and yellowish over time due to the consumption of wine, coffee, and tea. A simple teeth whitening session is more than enough to address this situation. However, if you notice that the color of the teeth is turning brown or grey from yellow, it may indicate that the teeth pulp has started decaying. This is a common sign of tooth infection.

If you notice you’re experiencing any of these above-mentioned symptoms, you need to consider an emergency dental appointment. Don’t rely on just the home remedies. A dentist will prescribe your medications and treatments for the best results.
