    1.  Bukit Gundaling

There are few things better than a morning in the mountains where you could breathe in the fresh mountain air, and Berastagi’s Bukit Gundaling is no exception. From the summit of Bukit Gundaling, then you may put your eyes on two of Sumatra’s most stunning volcanoes – Sibayak and Sinabung. If you’re arranging a trip there in the afternoon, be sure to stay for the sunset and watch the sky transform its light and colour in a stunning display.

    2.  Wampu River

Rafting down Sungai Wampu is also a truly special experience. As you traverse down the river, you will find a glimpse into the Medan forest, pass by wildlife, experience tough rapids, and witness waterfalls and the magnificent river valley. Won’t that be this exhilarating and memorable experience? The rafting guides can not guarantee you will not become wet, but they can ensure that you will have fun!

    3.  Pulau Mursala, Sibolga

You might have seen this island in the Hollywood blockbuster ‘King Kong’. Mursala Island is a unique, tropical beauty situated in the Indian Ocean. Although it earned its fame through the movie, Mursala is still pretty much peaceful and untouched. The sea biodiversity of Mursala is undeniably beautiful, but the best feature on the island would be the waterfall that empties into the sea from a 35-metre-high reddish granite cliff. It’s such a glorious scene most people can only capture in these films.

    4.  Bukit Lawang

Initially established by a Swiss firm, Bukit Lawang is one of the major safe habitats for orangutans. If you’re interested in our big, long-armed friends, Bukit Lawang is the perfect place to discover the behavior of orangutans in their natural habitat. Just remember not to feed the creatures, as human food could be hazardous for them! After a day of enjoyment with the apes, consider heading to the Restoran Kapal Bambu (Bamboo Ship Restaurant), which combines effortlessly into the natural atmosphere. Or are you travelling with a friend who isn’t interested in any monkey business? There’s a dazzling bat cave as well as tube actions down the Bohorok River that it is possible to experience!

    5.  Bukit Paropo Silalahi

This is not your typical beach. Bukit Paropo is where the grassy green hillsides match the numerous shades of sparkling blue of the waters below. Instead of salty seawater, Bukit Paropo”beach” faces the beauty of freshwater Lake Toba. Even though Bukit Paropo is becoming more and more popular among local tourists, you’ve got around 28 slopes of”shore” to savor. So find your place, and you’ll soon feel like you own the place! With such majestic natural beauty all around you, isn’t this a slice of paradise?

    6.  The Hulu River

The Hulu River at Bukit Barisan Mountains is the mother of all waterfalls in the area. As a result of an immense, continuous flow of water which brings life to the Hulu River, three amazing waterfalls have been shaped : Simangande, Dua Warna, along Sampuren Putih. Every one of the waterfalls is exceptional in its own right, and if you see them personally, you may truly experience the full magnitude and beauty of these natural wonders.

    7.  Bukit Indah Simarjarunjung

Having a couple of unique photo-friendly platforms overlooking Lake Toba, Bukit Indah has turned into the region’s very sought-after photo destinations. Snap your Instagrammable shots onto a hot air balloon system or on giant hands or center suspended above the scenic beauty in the skies. If you are brave enough, then consider the treehouse swing to the clouds! The very best times to visit Bukit Indah are in the evenings and weekends. During those times, you will have great lighting for photography, and an opportunity to see the sunset across the lake. Keep in mind it is cooler up there, and the weather changes rapidly, so remember to bring a coat!

Whether your trips take you to a long stroll on beaches, delicious cuisines, relaxing spas and resorts or urban attractions, extra research will give you the best experience for your visit. Get to know more about Medan by visiting Wonderful Indonesia.
